Croatia tenders 50 MW of PV

Through the procurement exercise, the Croatian Energy Market Operator (HROTE) is seeking to allocate 88 MW of renewable energy capacity. The tender is part of the country's scheme to procure 2.26 GW of renewables including 1 GW of solar.

The Croatian Energy Market Operator (HROTE) has launched a tender for the deployment 88 MW of renewable energy capacity.

Through the exercise, the authority is seeking to allocate 50 MW of PV, 4 MW of small-sized hydropower, 5 MW of middle-sized hydropower, 14 MW of biomass and 15 MW of biogas.

For the PV category, projects ranging in size from 50 kW to 500 kW are entitled to participate. Maximum price for the PV source has been set at €0.063/kW. For all other sources, ceiling price is over €0.10/kWh.

The procurement exercise is part of the tender scheme announced by the Croatian government in May. Through this scheme, Zagreb’s authorities aims to allocate 1,075 MW of PV capacity and, overall, 2.26 GW of renewable energy capacity.

For solar, the government has decided to allocate 210 MW for projects ranging in size from 50 kW to 500 kW, 210 MW for installations with capacities between 500 kW and 10 MW, and 625 MW for PV power plants exceeding 10 MW. Projects selected under the scheme will be awarded a feed-in price premium, which will be paid for by the power the projects generate, on top of spot market prices.
